What are the participation options in Marcade's simulations?

You can participate individually or as a group in any of our simulations. For example, a session might include 25 people divided into five groups, and another might consist of 10 individuals.

You can also participate in Marcade’s simulations by yourself without any other competitors. If you wish to do so, you will compete against artificial intelligence.

What is the maximum number of individuals/groups allowed in one session?

In our online simulations, we can go up to more than 1000 participants in one session. Also, it is possible to run multiple sessions simultaneously. So, in our online simulations, 100 sessions, each containing 100 participants, can be active simultaneously.

Our recommendation is to limit the number of usernames to 15 (which means up to 75 people) per session. Please note that this recommendation is valid only for a single session. It is always possible to create multiple concurrent sessions and let an unlimited number of participants compete simultaneously. We have had applications with more than 140 students from the same class, divided into two concurrent sessions.

You can also participate in our online simulations by yourself against artificial intelligence. You do not have to find other individuals or form a group to compete.

Are Marcade simulations administered synchronously or asynchronously?

We offer both options. It is up to you which one to choose.

In our synchronous simulations, all participants have to participate in the simulation at the same time. A time limit is set for each stage/year, and the participants are required to complete the stages in the given time frame.

In our asynchronous simulations, we specify a time frame in which each participant can complete the simulation at their own pace. For example, the simulation can be accessible for four weeks, and each participant can log in to the page during those four weeks and make their decisions whenever they want.

Results will be available only after all the participants complete the simulation or a year.

Synchronous applications are, as you can guess, more stressful and more similar to real life. If you would like to make the simulation harder, we recommend this option.

Asynchronous applications are generally more convenient for bigger or multinational groups when participants live in different time zones (e.g., the USA – the UK ).

If you are a multinational corporation and would like your employees from different time zones to participate in the same session, our asynchronous simulations would be in your best interests.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes.

Orders over 20 usernames are subject to a discount.

Our discount percentage increases for orders over 50 and 100 usernames.

It is possible to order usernames before and use them in the future to have a cost advantage.

Is it possible to have a test run?

Yes.

For bulk orders, we offer a free trial run for employers/academic staff.

If you are planning to order a custom simulation, please contact us. You can test our current simulations to get a feel of how our simulations’ infrastructure works.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer test runs for individual orders.

Are there any requirements in order to participate in Marcade simulations?

In brief, no. However, we have a recommendation.

We strongly recommend you use a computer to enrol in the online versions of our simulations. Although our online simulations are designed responsively and work on tablets and cellphones, we still recommend using computers for the best viewing experience. Please get into contact with us for more details.

How long does one session last?

It depends on your choices.

In synchronous versions, our simulations’ total runtime changes between 6 – 110 hours depending on the marketing knowledge level of the participants and the active simulation. Conquer the Internet® takes between 6 – 8 hours, Conquer the Market®, 6-13 hours and Conquer the World®, 12-110 hours (based on how the simulation is set up).

We can also administer our simulations on different days. For example, our simulations can be administered as a day-long workshop, or we may divide the application into multiple days.

There isn’t any time limit for asynchronous versions (apart from the time frame we set before activating the simulation). They may be active even year-long. However, you should expect to spend the same amount of time as a synchronous setting to complete the simulation.
